The New England Patriots have a quick turnaround from Sunday's gritty win over the Buffalo Bills as they must now quickly turn their attention to another division rival with an accelerated time frame.
The Patriots host the hated New York Jets on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, and will be without running back Shane Vereen, and possibly a few others - Vereen undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his wrist that will keep him out of at least this game.
Due to the accelerated time frame in which to prepare for the nationally televised Thursday night NFL Network's weekly showcase, both the Jets and the Patriots were mandated to release their mid-week injury report on Monday...
...and with very few surprises on the Patriots end, as Shane Vereen was listed as not participating in practice - FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reporting that he was in the midst of surgery to repair a broken bone in his wrist - but otherwise a nearly predictable list of aches and pains.
Both receiver Danny Amendola and tight end Zach Sudfeld gutted out injuries against the Bills, Amendola tweaking a groin injury and Sudfeld dealing with a sore hammy, but the fact that they continued to play is a good sign going forward, though both bear monitoring.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared on the list again, sporting a "limited" participation moniker, along with running backs Brandon Bolden (knee) and newly resigned Leon Washington (thigh), safeties Nate Ebner (ankle) and Duron Harmon (hamstring), receiver Aaron Dobson (hamstring), and swing tackle Will Svitek (knee).
On the Jets injury report, it was notable that both quarterbacks Geno Smith (ankle) and Mark Sanchez (shoulder) were listed, Sanchez being a no go for Thursday night in all likelihood.
New York's list is massive - nearly half of the team is listed with one ailment or another. The final injury report before the game is due on Wednesday, and it will be interesting to see how Patriots' coach Bill Belichick handles his offensive weapons with his ranks being so depleted.
