Patriots' Gronkowski done for day with leg injury

Being mugged by the Cleveland Browns' linebackers all afternoon, Rob Gronkowski finally got loose in the seam midway through the third quarter - and it may have cost him his season.

The all-world tight end was undercut by Browns' safety T. J. Ward just as Gronkowski turned upfield after hauling in a Brady 21 yard offering, the force of the collision causing his knee to bend at an awkward angle, Gronkowski flipping in the air with a half twist and coming to rest without the football.

Microphones near the field picked up Gronkowski screaming, "Broke my leg!  Broke my leg!"

The Patriots, normally tight-lipped and secretive regarding - well - everything, issued the following statement:

The injury look suspiciously like a knee injury despite Gronkowski's screams to the contrary, and the attending medical staff did not apply an air cast - rather, he was loaded on the dreaded injury cart and wheeled to the locker room for evaluation...

...taking the taps and handshakes of condolences from players on both teams, including Ward, who with the hit has elevated his status in Patriots' lore to that reserved previously only for Bernard Pollard, who has been involved in more than just a handful of plays that leave Patriots' players wounded.

Obviously we will update this fluid situation as word become available.
